UN Biodiversity summit

UN Biodiversity summit
The links between biodiversity conservation and sustainable development, climate change and public health have become more dominant themes of international discussions.

The United Nations summit on biodiversity was held at the end of September, with the theme: Urgent action on biodiversity for sustainable development. There was a strong emphasis on the relationship between biodiversity, climate change and zoonotic disease. The importance of NbS for climate change and other development priorities was highlighted by many speakers, with calls for inclusion of NbS in Nationally Determined Contributions to the Paris Agreement. A biodiversity and climate impact investment fund dedicated to NbS was launched at the event.
